Established in 1925 in the heart of San Francisco's Chinatown, this historic theater's mission is to cultivate traditional Asian art forms, nurture emerging artists, and revitalize the San Francisco Chinatown community.

The Great Star Theater is proud to be a registered 501(c)3 non-profit, led by an active board of community leaders and artists dedicated to fostering inclusivity and representation. Our theater is a welcoming space for people of all backgrounds, hosting events that highlight diverse voices, including the LGBTQ+ community, Asian-American culture, and up-and-coming local artists.
